Do I need to give Statements AI my Bank of America login?
No. You upload a statement PDF you already downloaded. Statements AI doesn't ask for your Bank of America username, password or OTP, and it doesn't connect to your bank account.
Bank of America PDF workflow
Turn a Bank of America checking, savings or credit-card statement PDF into a ledger you check line by line, then export a CSV that opens in Excel. You don't connect your account; you upload a PDF you already downloaded.

No bank login or credentials. You upload the PDF, AI drafts the rows, and you check every one before export.
Bank of America statements can usually be downloaded from online banking or the mobile app:
Labels change from time to time; if you don't see the option, Bank of America's help pages will have the current steps. Use the original PDF rather than a scan.
Upload a PDF to start; you'll sign in first. You can choose several PDFs at once, for example several months, and they're processed two at a time. Each page uses one credit. Password-protected PDFs work: enter the password in your browser, and it's never stored.
After upload, the AI reads the PDF and drafts a ledger: one row per transaction with the date, description, debit or credit, a type (expense, income or transfer) and a suggested category. Treat it as a first draft.
Review means three things: check each row against your statement, fix categories and types, and exclude rows you don't want. With the Bank of America PDF open next to the ledger, look at:
In the ledger you can change categories and types and exclude rows. If a date, description or amount doesn't match the statement, exclude that row, or correct it in your spreadsheet after export with the PDF as your reference.
When you have finished the review, export it. You get a CSV that opens in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, and that you can bring into other tools that accept CSV imports. Steps for Excel are below.
A fictional Bank of America-style statement with a $4,150.00 payroll deposit, a $142.30 utility payment and a $38.90 card purchase could become these reviewed rows. It shows the format only; it says nothing about extraction accuracy on your statement.

The CSV has ten columns, in this order: Date, Description, Amount, Currency, Category, Account Number, Source File, Debit, Credit, Balance. Debit and Credit hold the amount without a sign, so you can read each row the way it appears on your statement. Amount combines both in one column: debits are positive and credits are negative. Source File tells you which statement each row came from. Check account identifiers before you share an export.

No tool gets every statement right, and we don't publish an accuracy figure. That's why every extracted row appears in a review ledger: you check each row against your statement, fix categories and types, and exclude rows you don't want before you export.
