Do I need to give Statements AI my Capital One login?
No. You upload a statement PDF you already downloaded. Statements AI doesn't ask for your Capital One username, password or OTP, and it doesn't connect to your bank account.
Capital One PDF workflow
Turn a Capital One credit-card or bank statement PDF into a ledger you check line by line, then export a CSV that opens in Excel. Useful when all you have is the PDF, for example older statements or ones you were sent by someone else.
See a sample result, no account needed. You'll sign in first.
No bank login or credentials. You upload the PDF, AI drafts the rows, and you check every one before export.
Capital One statements can usually be downloaded from the website or the mobile app:
If a label doesn't match, Capital One's help pages will have the current steps. Upload the original PDF rather than a scan.
Upload a PDF to start; you'll sign in first. You can choose several PDFs at once, for example several months, and they're processed two at a time. Each page uses one credit. Password-protected PDFs work: enter the password in your browser, and it's never stored.
After upload, the AI reads the PDF and drafts a ledger: one row per transaction with the date, description, debit or credit, a type (expense, income or transfer) and a suggested category. Treat it as a first draft.
Review means three things: check each row against your statement, fix categories and types, and exclude rows you don't want. With the Capital One PDF open next to the ledger, look at:
In the ledger you can change categories and types and exclude rows. If a date, description or amount doesn't match the statement, exclude that row, or correct it in your spreadsheet after export with the PDF as your reference.
When you have finished the review, export it. You get a CSV that opens in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, and that you can bring into other tools that accept CSV imports. Steps for Excel are below.
A fictional Capital One-style card statement with a $450.00 payment, a $52.30 purchase and a $15.99 subscription could become these reviewed rows. Card statements often don't show a running balance, so that column can be empty. It shows the format only; it says nothing about extraction accuracy on your statement.
Swipe sideways to see every column.
| Date | Description | Amount | Currency | Category | Account Number | Source File | Debit | Credit | Balance |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-08-03 | SYNTHETIC Payment Received | -450.00 | USD | Transfers | SYNTHETIC-ACCOUNT | synthetic-capital-one.pdf | 450.00 | ||
| 2026-08-06 | SYNTHETIC POS Purchase Merchant | 52.30 | USD | Shopping | SYNTHETIC-ACCOUNT | synthetic-capital-one.pdf | 52.30 | ||

The CSV has ten columns, in this order: Date, Description, Amount, Currency, Category, Account Number, Source File, Debit, Credit, Balance. Debit and Credit hold the amount without a sign, so you can read each row the way it appears on your statement. Amount combines both in one column: debits are positive and credits are negative. Source File tells you which statement each row came from. Check account identifiers before you share an export.

Statements AI exports a CSV file that opens in Excel. It doesn't create a native .xlsx file, but you can save the CSV as a workbook from Excel in one step.
No tool gets every statement right, and we don't publish an accuracy figure. That's why every extracted row appears in a review ledger: you check each row against your statement, fix categories and types, and exclude rows you don't want before you export.
Yes, you can upload Capital One bank and credit-card statement PDFs. Layouts vary by account type, so review the ledger carefully before export.
If your account offers a transaction download that covers what you need, use it. Statements AI is for when you only have the statement PDF, such as older periods or statements someone sent you, and you want rows you've checked yourself.
