Do I need to give Statements AI my Citi login?
No. You upload a statement PDF you already downloaded. Statements AI doesn't ask for your Citi username, password or OTP, and it doesn't connect to your bank account.
Citi PDF workflow
Turn a Citi bank or credit-card statement PDF into a ledger you check line by line, then export a CSV that opens in Excel. There's nothing to connect: you upload the PDF you already have from Citibank.
See a sample result, no account needed. You'll sign in first.
No bank login or credentials. You upload the PDF, AI drafts the rows, and you check every one before export.
Citi statements can usually be downloaded from Citi online or the Citi mobile app:
If the labels don't match, Citi's own help pages will have the current steps. Upload the original PDF rather than a screenshot.
Upload a PDF to start; you'll sign in first. You can choose several PDFs at once, for example several months, and they're processed two at a time. Each page uses one credit. Password-protected PDFs work: enter the password in your browser, and it's never stored.
After upload, the AI reads the PDF and drafts a ledger: one row per transaction with the date, description, debit or credit, a type (expense, income or transfer) and a suggested category. Treat it as a first draft.
Review means three things: check each row against your statement, fix categories and types, and exclude rows you don't want. With the Citi PDF open next to the ledger, look at:
In the ledger you can change categories and types and exclude rows. If a date, description or amount doesn't match the statement, exclude that row, or correct it in your spreadsheet after export with the PDF as your reference.
When you have finished the review, export it. You get a CSV that opens in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, and that you can bring into other tools that accept CSV imports. Steps for Excel are below.
A fictional Citi-style statement with a $3,820.00 payroll deposit, a $67.45 card purchase and a $600.00 card payment could become these reviewed rows. It shows the format only; it says nothing about extraction accuracy on your statement.

| Date | Description | Amount | Currency | Category | Account Number | Source File | Debit | Credit | Balance |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-08-02 | SYNTHETIC Direct Deposit Payroll | -3820.00 | USD | Income | SYNTHETIC-ACCOUNT | synthetic-citi.pdf | 3820.00 | 4975.60 | |
| 2026-08-05 | SYNTHETIC POS Purchase Merchant | 67.45 | USD | Shopping | SYNTHETIC-ACCOUNT | synthetic-citi.pdf | 67.45 | 4908.15 | |
| 2026-08-08 | SYNTHETIC Card Payment | 600.00 | USD | Transfers | SYNTHETIC-ACCOUNT | synthetic-citi.pdf | 600.00 | 4308.15 |
The CSV has ten columns, in this order: Date, Description, Amount, Currency, Category, Account Number, Source File, Debit, Credit, Balance. Debit and Credit hold the amount without a sign, so you can read each row the way it appears on your statement. Amount combines both in one column: debits are positive and credits are negative. Source File tells you which statement each row came from. Check account identifiers before you share an export.

Statements AI exports a CSV file that opens in Excel. It doesn't create a native .xlsx file, but you can save the CSV as a workbook from Excel in one step.
No tool gets every statement right, and we don't publish an accuracy figure. That's why every extracted row appears in a review ledger: you check each row against your statement, fix categories and types, and exclude rows you don't want before you export.
Yes, you can upload Citi bank and credit-card statement PDFs. Layouts vary by account type, so review the ledger carefully before export.
You can import the reviewed CSV into a spreadsheet or bookkeeping tool that accepts CSV files. Check the column mapping in your tool. The CSV helps organize records; it isn't tax or accounting advice.
